Data Analytics

Data analytics involves the use of key performance indicators to measure and track organizational goals. Such metrics, when properly aligned with organizational goals and objectives can make today's media and information company smarter. We start with the idea that data tells stories or provides patterns and examples. When carefully analyzed and interpreted within an organizational context, data can uncover select patterns and/or provide actionable insights. Such metrics can help a media organization become more strategic and more competitive in attaining its goals as well as identifying new "blue ocean" opportunities.

 

COVID-19, for example, has had a huge impact on the world. But it could have been even more challenging if not for the use of big data analytics        in the healthcare industry. Given the many stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, researchers and lawmakers, each fully use the power of data analytics and predictive modeling in order to help distribute resources, optimize patient care services, and apply preventive measures  all across. Thanks to the above-mentioned tools, the data inputs and analysis remained constant, thereby, allowing for a better understanding 
of a patients' symptoms, and how to respond to them.

 

Another application of data analytics can be seen with our everyday use of Internet-of-Things. The Internet of Things (IoT) has been described as the capability of machines to communicate with each other. The combination

​​of IoT and Artificial Intelligence can improve the predictive maintenance capabilities of machines, while allowing service providers to monitor the status of their assets in real time, thereby, proactively addressing potential problems. The IoT presupposes the interconnection of computing devices via the internet that are embedded in everyday objects which enables them to send and receive data. Specific IoT devices often include the following:

  • Automatic doors

  • Automobiles

  • Coffee machines

  • Fire detectors

  • Household appliances that are operated by remote control outside the home

  • Intelligent lighting

  • Running shoes that record the number of steps and the runner's speed

  • Smart homes and energy management

 

This is where data analytics can play an important role by identifying patterns in energy use and house management.
